Hoverboard Scooters UL 2272 Certification

The new standard evaluates the safety of the electrical drive train system, battery, charger system combinations, but does NOT evaluate for performance, reliability, or rider safety.

UL 2272 supports retailers and manufacturers by offering electrical and fire-safety testing and certification for the electrical systems of self-balancing scooters.

UL recommends that proper safety precautions as followings when buying and using a self-balancing scooter:

  • Safety First – Make sure it is a stable Samsung battery system with a engine safety system.
  • Keep the hoverboard away from flammable materials while charging.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s recommended charging times. DO NOT overcharge.
  • Use only the charger that is packaged with the hoverboard.
  • Follow all manufacturer-recommended safety guidelines, including wearing recommended personal protective gear.

As self-balancing hoverboards or scooters continue to grow in popularity, the need for electrical system certification is more important than ever and UL had done one a great job in this regard.
